Loomery Scrolls

Loomery is the name given to the guillemot’s clifftop breeding colonies. The first drawings of this series, made from observation on large scrolls of paper, were developed during a collaboration with the University of Sheffield and the long term monitoring of breeding guillemots on Skomer Island, West Wales. The works incorporate observations made by scientists in the field, such as behaviour, colony structure and colour rings used to identify individuals. Loomery scrolls is itself now a long term project, with the aim of representing every major Loomery of the British Isles in the series.
