Society of Wildlife Artists: The Natural Eye Exhibition

Timelapse demonstrating some of the hand printed layers of ‘Mirror Calm, Nuuk. Greenland’

I've ventured into uncharted waters for my work in this year's Society of Wildlife Artists The Natural Eye exhibition at the Mall Galleries . This is my first colour screenprint and It's made up of 11 hand-printed layers of transparent ink, as shown in the time lapse above. I wanted the print to closely replicate the washes in a watercolour I made early one morning in a mirror calm sea off Greenland. I was working as an Orca Wildlife Officer at the time and I remember this day well, because of the perfect conditions we had for spotting whales and dolphins with the ship's guests, including the Humpbacks and White-beaked Dolphins I sketched for this piece.
